Yunei or is it Yuni? Guy at the LFS didn't know much about it and I'm wanting to learn more about it before I buy it. Web search shows nothing. Anybody know a good sight with info & pics? Thanks!

They might be talking about Acropora Yongei (aka "Bali Slimer") Hope that helps :)

May catch flak for this one, but I would like to say its a purplish slimer (yongie). Gets really slimmy like my green one.

That is really cool Yongei Tony. Are you going to the Coral Farmers Market? Maybe we can set up a trade if you are going. If so send me an email or PM :)

I thought the slimers were acropora formosa.

Freed,

I am no expert and will never claim to be in identification. From the growth and the characteristics, its identical to the bali slimers I have, down to the slime. I don't believe a formosa slimes, but not an expert here as I said with my disclaimer.

Tony thanks for the compliment. I told you it was a nice piece which I am very happy with

Eric sent you a loooooooooooooong pm...sorry

Ron Coleman Purple Slimer. At least that's the one I have always known as a purple slimer. Got mine from tubs a while back. It's a fast grower and isn't too demanding. Yeah, it's a mucusy little coral.

OK, here is what i have came up with. Frag is about 2.5" cream colored with blue/purple tips. Round ball shaped coralites with white polyps arranged in verticle rows. I have tried to upload a photo but I cannot get it small enough to be accepted. I am willing to send pic in email to anyone who might be able to ID or brain fart outloud some ideas. I think it may be A. Globiceps. but what do I know?

My purple slimmer is not as fast growing as the green but slimes just as much. I got mine from xtremeaquatics 4 + years ago. Been fraged many times.

WOW If there was a most beautiful sps of the month i think it would go to that formosa.....back to the topic.....

I think that most of the acros will slime to some extent and some will do it more than others there are pattens allong the same species of coral, but there are exceptions to the rules so you cant say all or none....this is nature not science.
