I need some help here on skimmers. I have been reading about various brands for a few months.

I have a Aqua Medic Turbofloter 1000-milti and it works but the pump is going and I need to but another pump, water level at times is up and down and the foam is not that great. It works but I think I can do better (model wise).

So I was thinking about replacing it with an AquaC EV-120. Is this a better direction or am I wasting my money? I read good and bad things about the EV-120. I need a skimmer able to sit along side my sump (small) and has a better efficiency.

Any comments…..

here ill be the first one to come on here and recommend a $1000 deltec http://www.deltecusa.us/proteinskimmers/ap701.php that is rated for 380-250g just because everyone on RC likes to "OVERSKIM"

I think you would be doing a lateral transition going from a turbofloater to the smallest aqua-c, so wasting $.

ok, thanks. I guess I will have to wait to get another pump since it is cheaper then spending more $$$$ on a skimmer here.

Problem is the pumps (ocean runner 2500) are hard to find right now.

Look for a 2700 oceanrunner on the web, its the 2500 with the needlewheel already put in, have seen a few older skimmers mod'ed with the 2700 pump with good results.

do you know if it has the same inlet for air etc?Looks different on the inlet/outlet. I know the needle wheel on the 2500 is different from the 2700.
