View Full Version : Is this a Florida or Yuma Ricordia? (pics)
Is this a Florida or Yuma Ricordia? Picked up this polyp today. :bounce1:It's about the size of a quarter. Heard they don't do very well under halides though. :( Is that true? Any special care instructions I should know about?

Florida. Just make sure that they are at the bottom of your tank and somewhat shaded from the MH's.

I have a couple at the top under 250w MH and they are loving it. The trick is to let things acclimate to the changes just like adding new corals.

About how long did it take for yours to acclimate? Mine is near the top also. 150w MH.

that is a VERY unhappy florida.
care = likes light and feeding but can be sensitive to parameter swings IMHO.
I can always tell when my parameters are off buy looking at my ricordias.

My params are perfect. I just put it in a day ago. Any suggestions? Those pics were taken 15 min after I put it in the tank also. It looked much better today and was more expanded too with the halides on.
It was acclimated ~3 hours.
The pics were taken without the halides on last night and with a flash from the camera. Any insight on caring for these is much appreciated. Thanks.
