what fish shrimp and crabs do you have? have you made any changes at all, like move rocks or the clam or change Ca additive start or stop adding anything?

After the lights go out check for pyramid snails.

when I first bought the clam I noticed a small white snail about 2 inches from the clam. I killed the snail. I have been looking almost every night now and havent seen any more. he is firmly clamped on the rock so I do not want to pick him up.
I havent checked my iodine levels but others are:
ph-8.0
phosphate-0(detectable)
0 nitrate/amonia
15-nitrate
alk-2.5 meq/l= 7 dkh

I have many sm blue legg hermits
astrea snails
2-cleaners (never in the same area as the crocea)
1 cbs
He is placed way up on the rocks about 4-5 in away from the 150w halide bulb.
again hes been PERFECT for the month or so I`ve had him.
One change...I added a lg red tree sponge yesterday in his local area. no die off as of yet and I do have a gigas in that area also.
If he reached out far enogh to touch a bushy acropora could this have stung him? he is close but always has been.

the clam is about 4+inches. I kepp it under 2x150w halides 10000k9.5 hours/day and 2 96w actinics 11.5 hours/day. Its is way up on the rocks under the halides.
For fish I have a naso, yellow tang, foxface, coral beauty, mandarin, 1 clark clown. Havent noticed any harrassment at all. though the clam is 90% closed it still responds to light. when I shadow the halide it will still react m mabey this is still a good sign.
Do they do this for some reason from time to time or is it a definite sign of a problem?

pygmy angels are nippers. you could have clams with them for years and they wont touch them, then you bring a new one in and they wont leave it alone. cut the top of a 2l clear soda bottle off to make a dome. drill holes in it for water flow and place it over the clam.
