False percs usually don't host anemones from what I've been told
My two false kinda do after watching my maroon, but they don't
luuuuvv that anemone like my maroon.
I was told that true percs do host, but I don't have actual experiance with them

My false percs use 2 pair of hairy mushrooms to host in.
Andrew

False. As far as I know most clownfish will host anemones but a few won't host them but never head that a whole type wouldn't host it. The lfs may be wrong or I may be wrong. Ill post in the clownfish forum and ask the people over there.

I had 2 false for a year and they never showed interest in either anemone
I had 2 clarkis that loved them
My clarkis got mean and cased the false
One false did the carpet dive
I took the clarks out and replaced w/ 1 new false(very young)
I also took a chance and got a very small gsm at the same time
The new false followed my gsm around and began hosting
Then the other false started hosting

One other note
My clarks and gsm truly hosted. They would spit food back into anemone.
I've never seen my false percs do that

Do false percs host in the ocean?
Andrew
02/17/2006, 08:33 PM
Im pretty sure False Percs do host anemones and corals. Im trying to look it up but not finding much. They must host in the ocean because I found this picture of own hosting one in the ocean. ( well atleast one hosts an anemone :D )

OK wizardgus has a thread on hosting anemones on new to hobby a couple threads away
Very detailed and informative
Seems false or ocelaris do host certain types of anemone
They have a cool list of what clowns host to which anemones

I think my LFS was refering to his tank bred falsies
saying they didn't know what an anemone was

anyone know if you put a real perc and false perc in the same tank, would they fight all the time or become mates?

I will tell you this one more time. Clown fish DO NOT host anything but parasites. Corals and anemones are the host.

I know I don't know everything there is, and that's why I'm here.
I appreciate when someone tells me when I'm wrong as well as when I'm right.
The main reason I go to new to hobby section is to help people as experienced have helped me.
I just try to do this in a possitive way. I'm not out to make someone feel stupid.
If you're going to join in conversation, why not answer the questions being asked
