I want to connect 2 rubbermaid brute trashcans and was thinking of using uniseals. They should work fine right?

probably the only way to do it infact. bulkheads dont really work for stiff rounded surfaces.

Are these something you can buy at Home Depot, Menards, etc.?

I don't know of any local places that carry them. I would recommend looking at Savko (http://www.savko.com/partlist.asp?pgid=2), unfortunately I just got an order in on Friday from them - if I saw this sooner, could have added them on for you. They have cheap/fast shipping though.

they have a $20 minimum order so keep that in mind if you order from them.

I am no expert but these uniseals look just like the grommets you see near the car audio gear at dept stores etc..... Different material maybe?

they are way different than grommets. They are denser material, and have a elongeted, tapered hole for the pipe. They will hold up to 40 psi.

they arent that different, they are the same idea really. just designed for a different purpose; inside hole is tapered so when the pipe goes through it pushes the outside out to lock it in. does quite a good job of it too; its far sturdier than one might think, it sit straight out, doesnt sag or anything.
