For a couple of months I've had a problem with what seems to be a fungus that is spreading over my live rock. Can anyone ID this and tell me what the best course of action is to remove it, and whether or not it is considered dangerous?

Thanks!

That's an algae. Can't remember the name right now. I had some in my tank and it grows too fast and is hard to get rid of. I'd pull it out if I were you. It comes off in sheets like leaves. Dont let them drift away or it will reproduce.

That I'm sorry to say is Lobophora. A nasty algae that can grow out of hand. Get crazy strict on your nutrient control, do as much manual removal as you can. Also, some people have had luck with long spine black urchins.

Remove the rock if possible and blast it off with a garden hose. JD

Thank you all for your replies, they were very helpful. The fungus is indeed the algae lobophora. Now to see if I can remove it...
