I am in the process of plumbing my frag tank and I wanted to find out how much flow people are running through their frag tanks. The tank is 30Lx24Wx17H. I am planning on having two tiers of mostly SPS corals in the tank.

I am going to run the plumbing from the sump across the room about 8 feet to the pump. Then pump the water straight up another 8 feet to a OM Super Squirt. The OM can take up at least 2200 gph.

I did not purchase a pump or the OM Super Squirt yet so I am open to other options as well.

Thanks

Id go with 15-20x flow. Give it a medium-high flow rate which is good for mostly all corals. Also a random flow or wavemaker is always a good idea.

a frag as in SPS tank should have more the 20x. Sps like around 35-40x and i know many with more then that. If you talking about somthing other then sps or maybe a mix then around 30-35x should ideal.

Okay, I am afraid that might be too much water pumping into the tank with a 1" and 1 1/2" bulkheads draining out of the tank. So, I guess I need to go with a closed loop to get 30-40x. Is that right?

How about a Tunze on the frag tank? Is that overkill? What would be the best size Tunze?

Thanks
