No pics yet. I am still in the great debate between going custom or going standard. I am leaning custom because of the narrowness of standard tanks. I do want the gallonage too for lots of corals and fish but 215 is plenty gallon wise. Owners of 215's thoughts would be appreciated.

Come on now. 215's are mass produced ! Some one must have. No one is PROUD of their Oceanic 215 !!! AGA 210 would work too.

I would, but only have water and sand in my new one so far - wouldn't be much help.

Dry tank pics - if any help: link to pics of tank (http://www.wamas.org/albums/gator.htm)

Tank of the Month June 2005 (http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-06/totm/index.php) - My present tank is a 225-gallon LeMar with dimensions of 72" x 30" x 24". I really like its 30" width as it allows for numerous aquascaping alternatives.

Sorry JackRent, my intention wasn't to hyjack your thread.

Shawn- the Bk is working great. Best investment (and a substantial one at that) I have made for my tank.

Julio- there is a pic from september 05 in my gallery of the clam.

Do you have a top down pic of the clam? is that Derasa really blue?

CAreefer

Julio, Yes it is really blue. I don't have a top down, at least that I can find right now. I will grab one real quick. Here is an old pic from Feb 01.

How long did it take to grow those SPS? Did you buy them large or did they start from frags? Nice!!

CAreefer
02/23/2006, 08:31 PM
All corals started as frags, I have no wild colonies. Some were moved over in Jan 04 during the upgrade. Quite a few were added after. In that pic the reef was 18 months old. IIRC the biggest coral transfered over was the green Milli in the back right corner. The T. Reniformis on the left (just behind the softie) was about 4" across. I'm not exactly sure what caused the quick growth I experienced, and have yet been able to duplicate it with new additions.

My tank was built by LeeMar in southern CA. I am in the process of trying to find a new builder myself. I've had some issues with the tank and got no help other than "send it in and we will fix it". With an estimated turnaround time of 8 weeks. Personally I will never buy another tank from them.

If you are looking for a custom tank I would not go to Oceanic as you will pay at least 1.5x more then needed... I got my 96x48x30 from AO... You could also look into Miracles in Glass... Oceanic a nice "standard" tank but IMO not work going with a custom from them... I know someone who got a 400gal Oceanic (not even custom) and pay more then I did for my 600gal by at least 20-25%...
