Take it out of the tank and unplug it before it melts down.

Yup. take it out. and check it out. Might have broke the shaft or impeller. I dont see a 1800 model number. but heres a link to what you probley need.

Take it out, clean it, run some vinegar water through it for several minutes, rinse it again and put it back into your tank.

Then consider buying a backup pump in case this one decide to die on you.

I have a different opinion. Buy a new primary pump and throw the rio away. It is not worth the risk.

Is that the only flow in the tank?

The thing is probley all caked up inside. But it is true havent you heard how cheesy thos pumps are. And how many of them melted down.

Based on the multitude of bad experiences with Rio pumps, I would take it out and replace it with a dependable pump.

How much flow are you looking to replaced?
