hello my question is what is a ground probe on a aquarium? i have read post and people say they have them but im not sure what it is and how it hooks up to a tank?

its a plug with a long wire that has a aluminum end or whatever metal it maybe that sits in the tank you just plug it into a regular 110 outlet and it grounds it out preventing any electrial curent in the water

awww ok, prob wouldnt be a bad idea for me to get one... i guess i can get one from my lfs. thanks for the info..:)

just to clarify the above poster- you plug it into the ground portion of the socket. I have had friends that almost did otherwise with thier grounding probe. Stick the wire into the little round hole on the socket.

Also be sure that you really have grounded outlets, and not just a grounded outlet stuck in place of an old one.
