I was wondering if anyone has bought a bubbleking skimmmer from overseas, and if there experience was a good one. I am currently looking at a bubbleking 250 internal skimmer at :
http://www.sewatec.de/default.php
I was wondering if any other Bubbleking owners purchased from them, and how long it took for shipping. I converted their Euro cost to American $ which came to $1328.44 which is over $800 cheaper than buying it in the US. Is this too good to be true?

Risky if there is a problem with it (returns etc...) Not to mention if it gets stuck in customs. I have heard of shippments being held for close to a month.

It probably has the Euro plug.

You would have to buy a power converter, Shipping would probably be over $200 and you would probably have to pay a fee to Visa on the exchange rate conversion... The warrenty would only be good over seas where you bought it and customs could be a real PITA.
It would be cool tho.

I wish we could buy the euro skimmers here in the US @ their prices.

Next person that vacations in Europe needs to rent a BIG boat to travel across the Atlantic with and bring a boat-load (no cliche intended) of skimmers and Tunzes back.

The Tunze stuff isnt too bad. The Euro price and US price seem to be pretty on par when you do the conversion.

Its the Skimmer companys sticking it to us. The problem is (for the buyer anyway) one person for each is doing the importing. The retailers have fixed prices (good for them, bad for us.) No competition on pricing = higher prices. To add to the insult (so to speak) a certain US company raised prices to match...

Not much we can do unless your willing to take the chance and order one from across the pond.

I was reading that another gentlem called 'Art" purchased one direct from Germany and must have had good success with it as he posted his experience with it on reefcentral:

Shipping via DHL global I know would come to 62 euros which converts to $73.67, with the price of the unit costing 1056.03 euros which converts to $1255.11 for a total price of $1328.78.

As for the plug I know that there are converters that you can buy.
