80 gallon guy I just talked to and 120.00 is not a firm price. The tank is not RR but the pump is a 3500. What do you all think I should offer?

Does it come with a stand and/or canopy?

No

$75 plus dinner at McDonalds

Aren't 80 gallons really tall? If so, it'd be a little difficult to clean and get to the bottom.

Well, I just purchased it for $100.00.

Depending on condition, that with the pump sounds like a pretty good deal.

What are the dimensions of an 80?

My 80 gallon has the same base as a 55, but it's almost twice as tall. It is really a "show" tank. Very difficult to work with and clean.

Just picked up the tank.. Here are the dimensions

47" Long
20" Tall
17" Wide

The glass that it is made out of is 1/2" thick. These measurements are inside dimensions. The pump is a canister style OceanMarine 3500. I do not know much about it, but I did check it out and it does work.

So it's a bit taller than a 75 and shorter than a 90... Sounds much better than what hagfish has as far as ease of working with.

Are you going to get it drilled?

I would like to get it drilled, but I am not sure who does it and how much it would cost. I don't have the tools to drill glass, I still need to make a sump and stand/canopy etc. etc.

Kirkwood glass drills for about 16 bucks per hole.

Thanks Doc I will check with them I would like to get it to the point where it would be RR and have built-in overflows.

Here's a good thread on overflows that will get the max surface organic extraction.

What I wouldn't do to be at a bare tank ready to drill for overflows and closed loops. Not desperate enough to drain the tank but ,,,,,

If you set up for the closed loops now you'll be very happy as 2 holes and a pump are actually cheaper than a half dozen powerheads and a heck of a lot better looking.

Well, I did find this site for overflows and standpipes http://cart.dursostandpipes.com/comersus/store/ I guess this is a good deal. Looks like around $100 for 2 internal overflows and standpipes. Sill will need the tank drilled. I guess I do not see the advantage of the closed loop system. I want to make it as simple as I can and I see if I drill 2 holes at each end for a 1" pipe would that be sufficient for the 80 gallon? And finally another Sump question to add on what would be the min. size for this tank?

Thanks Again

Marine Solutons drills as well. I think it is about $25.00 with the bulkhead.

Tom

Thanks actually that may work out better for me since they are only about a 5 min. drive for me.

Thanks for the info.
