Live rock question

Wondering if live rock can rejuvenate itself? I have 65# of live rock which was in a good reef tank for about 5 yrs. For the past 6 mo. it has been in a saltwater tank with only a pump and skimmer running. No lighting. Is the rock now dead? Is it worth using? Don't want to waste my time with it if it is worthless in a reef tank. Yet 65# of live rock is not cheap. What would you do? Any opinions? Thanks gang!

Use it. It's not dead. If you want more life just buy a small amount of new rock from a reputable vendor. Many people use completely dead base rock and add a little live rock to it. That's what I plan to do with my 400.
