My reason for doing this is I hapen to have one and it would be cheaper for me to do this. I could put 2 of them over it but I am sure one would be fine. Would this work for sps anc clams or should I buy something less powrfull. I Could have the light raised above the surface pretty far. I am building a custome enclousure. Should I use one, two, or none.

Yes you could. I used a 250w mh 14000k SE for about 6 months before upgrading my tank. Do not use 2, it's overkill and heat would definitely be an issue. I'd cut a few vent holes in the front of the hood near the top, and have a large computer fan pulling air from under the hood.

I am using a 250 watt 10k mh and 150 watts of vho over a twenty. You can do it but two would be too many
