I was having fun with my new 120 until I woke up this morning and noticed a crack forming in the bottom right corner of the aquarium!
Does anyone out there have a 120 for sale??? I only need the tank. My current 120 is the 5' L tank.

Did you just buy the 120 new or get it used? If you just bought it new you should have no problem getting it replaced with a new one. If on the other hand you bought it used just recently, I'd say call up the person who sold it to you and maybe they'll give you your money back or at least part of it. In the meantime its gonna be rubbermaid containers. very sorry to hear about this, but you should be back up and running in no time!

GSX-
I bought the tank used. I purchased it over a month ago. Do you think Im going to have to eat the cost or should I try to get some money back?
I think my ship is sunk on this one!

I would think being a month old your eating it. Sorry but I would figure the person you bought it from will say sorry was not cracked whne I sold it. Good luck either way

yeah he's probably right, no harm in asking though. I would give him a call and tell him what happened and ask if the tank was ever dropped prior to you buying it or if it ever sustained any hard hits. I'm sure he'll say no and sorry about what happened but he may also make an offer too... might be worth a shot?

I should also mention that I'd be kind of suprised if the entire day goes by and nobody on here has anything to help you out with. Good luck!

Eric, sorry to read about your tank, that is a horrible feeling when you first notice a crack in your tank. Although it would be nice to have some one to share in the cost of your loss I'm going to have to agree with weaver5. I sell a lot of corals here on RC and I am all about service but in this case if it were me on the selling end I just don't know if I would be able to share in the cost. There is always going to be a risk in purchasing used equipment and especially a used glass tank. And unfortunately it is common for glass tanks to be damaged or weakened during a move.
If you haven't already purchased containers you might look at getting one of the large Rubbermaid often used by reefers as fuges. A 100 gallon Rubbermaid would be able to support all of your inhabitants and LR for an extended period of time while you search for a new tank or while the one you have is being repaired. Maybe someone on our board has one you could borrow, if not most feed stores carry them.

Call the shermans on wadsworth they have used tank for a decent price. Sorry to hear about the misfortune.

You never answered if it was leaking? If not you might be able to buy a day of two. (of course be prepared with tubs and such)
Being a Weekend buying a new tank might be hard. It is a large tank and would have to be ordered. Look at Artful-Dodgers (spelling) link to all the LFS in CO. A long trip(2-3) hours might be worth it.
Let us know whats happening!!!!

:sad2:
Well, right after posting on here I went downstairs and disaster had struck! The crack extended its way all the way accross the front up to the right hand corner.
Water was everywhere.
It was the worst feeling ever seeing that! I managed to get all the LR and corals into a rubbermaid for the time being. I am still in a state of shock.
I will be looking for an acrylic tank soon, so if anybody knows of one for sale please let me know.....
The carpet man should be here soon. I will post pics of the maham later......
Sad, sad day

Call me on my cell if you need something.

Some pics of the tank (or whats left of it). I had the LR, corals, and fish moved into a 55 that I had laying around. Hopefully some of the life makes it. Its a real bummer because I just had my new sump and refug finished yesterday and I had my ASM G2 up and cranking. Pulled out some seriously foul stuff.
Once again, if anybody knows of anyone selling a RR acyrlic tank please let me know. Any good deals at any fish stores please let me know as well. I need to get a new tank within the week. Thanks for all the responses and the help! I really do appreciate it.

Kiznile-
Thanks for all the help.....the last link you posted was acutally the tank that exploded this morning. I found it at that exact link about a month ago. Wish I wouldnt have now. The fans are cranking and the carpet is slowly starting to dry. We will be replacing the carpet pad tomorrow afternoon.
This has been one really messed up weekend.

Yeah, the crack went all the way accross. The water poured out of the crack and was unstoppable. It was not fun.

If I was home, I have a 135 I'd let go cheap, but it isn't reef ready. We could drill it quick though. I'll be home after the 6th, but hopefully you'll have it fixed by then. I could have someone let you in though. It is drilled for 3/4" exits in the middle of the bottom...

Sorry for your loss. That really sucks! That is one of my greatest fears with my glass tank. Especially if it would happen when I am traveling. My wife would freak!

hey eric,
that really sucks..I had a similar situation happen on a 180. I replaced the piece of glass it wasnt an easy process but it worked great and i'm still using the tank it never leaked....glass was 160.00. I know you dont have that kind of time, but if you want to fix the tank is do-able . let me know if you decide to give it a shot.

Steve-
I think I will pass on trying to fix the glass. As of right now I cannot even look at the tank without getting a sick feeling in my stomach. Too many bad memeories. I think I'm going to part ways with that tank. Thanks for the info though. I appreciate it.
