fish getting better

what size tank do you have it in, how long has it been set up? I would think that if people told you to take it back to the LFS that you arn't housing it properly.

55 gallon tank, eventually the fish might get too big and i might have to purchase a larger tank but right now it is about 3 inches in length so that shouldnt be the problem

how long has the tank been set up? what are your prams, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates?

i had the tank up since september pH is at 8-8.2 ammonia is at 0, nitrites 0, and nitrates at aroudn 40, salinity between 1.023 and 1.024

your nitrates are why to high, espically for a sick fish. I really think you should get it into a better tank. I don't see how the LFS would sell you a fish in that shape though. Personatly i would give it back to the LFs, but if your going to try and keep it, do some major water changes and keep an eye one the fish. Use stress coat too, that might help the fish heal faster.

Regals are prone Bi-lateral diease when there small like that.
Get some Kent Zoe as soak his food in it for several feedings. Helped mine immensely.
When they get older/larger they'll be more resiliant

not a veteran BUT since your fish appears to be getting better, instead of giving him back, why don't you address the nitrate problem? nitrates come from stuff like fish poop so i think some scavengers could eat it up? also you can get some LR. it would make the fish happier and the new inverts too plus they filter out bad stuff in the water. you can ignore this if you want but one way or another you've gotta fix the nitrates. don't give up yet. it's bad for your psyche!
