I have a yellow tang that has developed what I believe to be Lymphocystis on the tips of two fins. It appeared on one fin right in the area of some slight damage/loss, which was apparent when I first got the fish. Apart from being unsightly everything I read says lymphocystis will after time receed. Does anyone have experience of this and any tips or suggestions. MGB

Lympho if I remember correctly is pretty harmless if kept under control. Its a virus that there are no known cures for at this time.

Lympho will go away at the end if you keep your water quality and ish food nutrient high. Their immune system will be able to fight it off eventually.

There are more dramatic ways like cutting it off...but I think you might want to pass on that.

Lee wrote an article/thread recently about nutrients:

If you have time, read it and see if that will help.

What Psionicdragon wrote is perfectly true.

For a bit more info on my experience see this thread:

I also agree with the above posts. I have a Regal Angel that had a small Lymphocystis lesion for about 4 months. It slowly resolved on it's own with what I believe was good nutrition, water quality and low stress. On this last item - I mean no harassment by tank mates as my Regal Angel is by far the biggest in the tank and top of the pecking order. If you look after these things - water quality, nutrition and stress from aggressive tank mates your Tang should do ok. This all assumes your Tang is in an appropriate size tank.
