What do you guys think? I took about 500 pics today and got about 10 good ones. I try to get pics I like out of the camera so I don't have to fix in PS. Maybe I could get better if I used PS but that's more work than I want to do LOL. I would say 90% of what I took had BAD color or the fish swimming to fast or out of frame. The second Anthias is my favorite for some reason.

Lookin good-
Photoshop is kinda like the darkroom that Ansel Adams used to enhance his photos... it's extra work for sure, but Photoshop will pretty much always make the picture look better.

I know it would help.in school I took some photography classes along time ago but for fun pics just don't want to spend the time. Plus when I was in school we only used film so never got the hang of computer stuff. One thing I was told in class was to try and crop in the camera first then if need be do it in processing. I like to play with 35mm film more than PS but that's just me. What would I do to make the pics I posted better other than to crop some stuff? and maybe better composition. Any input is appreciated.

Your pics look real good as they are- they might look a teensy bit better with a small color adjustment in the warm direction- but that is very minor.
As a general rule I'll sharpen the subject a little- this is almost always a benefit (the nature of ccd/cmos sensors is they soften the image- but that's no biggie because the pics [usually] sharpen up fine in an image editing program). Also I'll adjust the exposure and contrast via curves and levels if necessary. With the harsh lighting most aquariums have, adjustments in these areas is needed on almost every single picture I take- even when the exposure is right on... just the nature of aquarium photography.
All this is just my take on it- others will feel differently I'm sure.
