Been running H&S's smallest offering for about 6 months now on my 95g.
My space is limited so the a110 was my best option.
Heres a pic of my set-up

I believe I'm flowing about 70 gph thru the a110, gravity fed from a tee in one of my drain lines.
First time I cleaned/emptied the cup after break in.

What you can't see in the pic is that 1/16" thick coating of wet clay inside the neck. I love that "wet clay"!:)
I love knowing that it is going down the sink drain
instead of residing in my water.
Question for 'Fins Reef' (Brian) if you read this.
Do you think this skimmer can be improved upon?
Like everyone else...I want it to perform beyond its peak.
I keep looking at info on the aquabee 2001 pump that is outfitted
on larger H&S skimmers. Can the 2000 be swapped out for a 2001 and do you think it would make a noticeable difference?
I can't tell from photos if there is a size difference (the pump case/body).
Maybe I'm bored and just want to modify something:)
Have you ever heard of anyone running a 2001 on the 110?
Thanks

I am not aware of a way to improve upon it.
The 2001 pump is the same size externally, but with some internal variations. I have tried to run the 2001 on the A110, but it produces too much air for this size of skimmer.
Even with the pump dialed back it did not work properly. It is matched well to the 2000 pump.
You are already running it off your drain, so I don't see much way to improve.

From your photo, I'd say your getting excellence performance from your skimmer. How long does it take to get the skimmate shown in the pic?

If I recall correctly...maybe about 2-3 days. The first week it was running I tried to keep the water level high in the neck and couldn't pull much skimmate. Just a few chunks. Finally I opened the exit valve almost all the way and left it alone.
I didn't have any live stock in my tank for the first month I ran the skimmer. Just some rock, filters and water from my established tank.
Thanks for the reply, Brian.
I guess if the 2001 was an improvement it would be sold as
"standard equipment" for the A110.
Thanks

How is the bubble density in your skimmer, is it real milky?

Hey DeltecRules,
It seems as though it is not as milky as it was back then.
It my might be my perception of 'how it was back then' that may have changed. Looking at it tonight, I believe that the milkiness doesn't extend as far down into the main body like it use to. I pulled up some of my old pics and compared it to what I see now. I gave it a good cleaning with vinegar/water last month. My only small issue is that the skimmate foam keeps getting drier and drier until it eventually clogs the vent holes in the lid. The foam doesn't collapse like wet foam.
Right now, I keep on changing settings way too much (tinkering:)
so I'm actually making no progress. I never knew if it was setup correctly to begin with.
I only know my water is clear and I have never measured nitrates.
