Are there any good sites out there that will help me learn how to frag pom pom xenia? The rock island that I have it on is just about covered all the way and pom pom is growing in wierd directions. Can I just cut of a stock that is coming out of the side of another stalk or will that kill both stalks? and is there anything that I need to due after I cut it or will it be okay? and what is the best tool to use for cutting?

Just cut off the stalks with sissors and glues it the rubble using "gel" crazy glue. Don't worry about killing it almost impossible

If you're going to cut it, use something clean and sharp - a scalpel, a new razor blade, or a good pair of scissors. Try to make one clean cut...try to avoid "sawing" back and forth.

The best way to attach a "cut" frag IMO is to use a needle and thread (or thin monofilament fishing line) to thread through the piece and wrap around a small rock. When it attaches simply cut the thread and pull it out.

Whenever I want a frag of Xenia, instead of cutting a piece off I just place a small rock right on top of or amongst several stalks. In a few days the stalks will move up onto the new rock which is then easily removed to make a new "Frag".

Hope this info was useful.

This will work in a low-no current area. I'd take like a tubberware bowl with holes drilled and crushed coral on the bottom. Then I'd take 1 colony and start cutting it to pieces so they fall into the bowl. Within a few days, they'll start attaching to the crushed coral pieces which are then glued to a small rock. It's my preference for the xenias to NOT touch glue since they're pretty mucousy. Once they start growing, the base will cover the crushed coral and it'll look like a normal xenia on rock..:)
