My custom acrylic is only 12" high so I don't know if a Durso standpipe will be necessary. I am concerned that I don't get that gurgling sound when the water goes into the overflow and down to the sump. The stand is 30"high and I plan on filling my 15 gal sump about 1/2 to two thirds so the distance from overflow to water level in sump is not tremendously high. The return pump is about 300 gallons per hour. Do you think I might have a problem with noise if I go without a durso?

The overflow I have is only 5" X 5" and I have a 1"bulkhead. The fit is a little tight if I wanted to use a durso.

Stockman? Same principle, different design (unfortunately can't find a link to a pic).
