piston arms to lift lid?

Hey guys,

just wondering if any of you have found an appropriate size piston arm to assist in lifting and holding a hood or in wall lid above your large tank?
Kinda like the things that hold a hatchback open, but smaller?

Watch out if the leak and they will it will leak oil in your tank. I thought about doing that but thought other wise.

My understanding is there might be some air driven ones that don't have oil? Just have no idea.
