What are the pros/cons of wet vs dry skimming?

I run an inbetween of wet and dry. Pretty dark but not really dark or really light color.

Looks like good skimmate to me.

We went down there for the rally but it was mobbed, couldn't get within a block.
I racked up on the stickers. :)
I usually ran my skimmer more on the wet side. It seems like it pulls out more particulate matter, at least it appeared to.

I really like it. I believe it uses a Sedra 1000 pump.
