If so, how long did it take to kill the red algae?

I have. Along with siphoning it out, it took about 3-4 days. Then in 2 months it came back again with a vengence. Try to figure out why you have it and fix that. Thats what I ultimately ended up doing b/c I didnt want to dose that stuff every 2 months.
