Hi Brian,

What's the recommended flow rate for a A200-2x1260? I am setting up a new tank and planning the plumbing.

Thanks,

Sean

The recommended flow rate up to 550gph.

I know that ideally, it would be fed right from the overflow, but for the sake of conversation and very consistent feed rates, lets consider using a separate feed pump.

Wouldn't you know it - right between the Eheim 1250 and the 1260.

If you were going to use one of the Eheim's to feed the 2x1260, which would you use? the 1250 is rated at 317gph and the 1260 is rated at 635gph.

Or, would you recommend a different pump entirely?

For the sake of feed rate consistency, I am considering feeding mine this way. My overflow dumps right into a 20gal settling tank/refuge before my sump, so I would probably get almost the same water as I would straight from the overflow. Otherwise, getting the correct flow rate while feeding it from the overflow will involve a little gate valve balancing, a bucket and stopwatch, and maybe some spilled water.

Do you sell seperate Ehiem or Aquabee pumps? I did not see them on the website.

I kind of hope you say the 1250, as I have one of them I could use.

Steve, it depends on what size tank your are going to run it on. If it is the 180, then the Eheim 1250 should work fine for you. The Maximum feed rate is 550gph, but it can be less. If you are going to buy a pump to use, the Eheim 1260 is a great pump, and a simple ball valve on the output of the pump, will slow it to where you need it. There are many pumps on the market, but IMO the Eheims can't be beat. If you are wanting a cheaper feed pump, then a Mag drive 5 or 7(if valved down) will work. The Mag pumps do produce more noise and heat than the Eheim.
