What is the best heater? I'm just using it in a 40G breeder and the room is at normal room temp 99% of the time. What is your opinion?

I'm curious on this too.

I've started using the titanium or stainless steel models. I've had two glass units just crack after about 18 months. I got this one a month ago an like it Heater (http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_heaters_won_brothers_pro-heat_titanium.asp?CartId=)

Note of caution: If temp probe falls out, it will keep running;:eek1:

My tank was at 86 for an hour after I knock it loose while play with the skimmer. I now have it zip tied. Don't trust the suction cup.

I use a EBO-JAGER and have been very happy with it.

Look at this thread, it starts as a poll, but it talks about different heaters and such. Really some good information here.

The Hagen Tronic heaters have the advantage of failing "off" rather than trying to cook the tank, IME. I use two heaters and a temperature controller in my display tanks because I don't trust heaters any more. I've tried a lot of brands: some Titanium models, Ebo-Jager, Tronic. I don't trust any of them.

I too don't trust heaters. I use a controller. I like the titanium ones simply because they do not crack. I've managed to crack just about every glass heater I've ever owned, one way or another.

I really like Finnex titanium heaters. I have two with the controllers. They are built tough. However, I'd say they are great for sumps but not for placement in the display tank simply because of looks - I wouldn't like having to see a couple of titanium rods every time I look in the tank.
