i was wondering is it necessary to have a calcium reactor on a reef tank....???if so can i make my own or would it be better to buy one???thanks

It is not a requirement....but most of us end up having one in the long run. It is something that can be skipped in the beginning IMO to save money and added later when things get going stronger. They are not hard to make....unless you try to make a rectangular one...(making fun of myself here) but some folks don't like the trials and tribulations of DYI...it's a matter of choice.

You can make one but I think it is better to buy one that has all the kinks worked out.

There are some people on here that sell them.

I run heavily stocked SPS tanks, and I dont use Calcium reactors. I have used them in the past, but found that I didnt really need them.
