Question about which pump to use?

I am setting up a 210 gal tank. I will be using a 1200gph overflow. The head will be about 5 ft. Can I use the MAG 12 or would you use a MAG 18. let me know your suggestions.

For a return I would use a Mag 18. I use a Mag 18 on my 125 dual overflow. They too are rated for 600 GPH each.

I run Mag 24's on all my 210's. The overflows keep up with them very well! HTH

what overflows are you using. a 1200gph for the tank.

I wouldnt use either. Is the sump under tank, or in a different room?

You'd be better off using an external pump. Maybe an iwaki, or a panworld/blueline? If noise is really an issue, maybe a velocity T4?

The big mag pumps are energy hogs, and dont really perform well. Theyre just not worth it.
