So I have about 40 egg pods on the glass of my 2.6gal.
I am wondering how long they take to hatch and what I can do to keep them safe from the inhabitants of the tank.
Here are two pics of one of the pods.

I have tons of the squiggly cerinth snail eggs every week, like 4 seperate bunches of them, my fish don't look twice at them, are they hatching and surviving? I would like to know whats up with these too.

I have these as well. I've also seen a few really small snails roaming my live rock. So it seems some of them are hatching and growing. At least in my tank :)

those look like nassarius eggs. posiblly nerite snail eggs. as far as them hatching, most the time it just takes a few days. survival is slim. it takes a while for the snails to grow big enough so the fish wont eat them, plus you will need algae growing for them to eat. some will be skimmed out as well.

So is there a way to protect them? The only fish I have in the tank is a small skunk clown and a lawnmower.
As for algae, there should be enough.
As this is a very small nano tank I do not have a skimmer.
Can anyone confirm them hatching in a few days? I am going to try to isolate some after they hatch to see if I can get them to survive...

Cerith spawn, and grow out frequently....The survival rate of the grow out may be miniscule, but that is why they lay so many eggs. I easily have 100 tiny, to small ceriths. and I only started with 15.

So this is what they are I guess... (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://jwsweb.home.mchsi.com/salt6/pest2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://jwsweb.home.mchsi.com/salt6.html&h=479&w=640&sz=14&tbnid=CCEDKRfm137IsM:&tbnh=101&tbnw=135&hl=en&start=2&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dnassarius%2Bsnail%2Beggs%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26rls%3DGGLD,GGLD:2005-12,GGLD:en%26sa%3DN)
The eggs are about half way down on the page.
I was hoping they were tubo snails so I can hve an abundance of glass cleaners, but I guess Ill have to buy mor of those!
Should be intresting to watch the process. If I can I will post some pics alon the way...

So I think these are baby snails... Can someone confirm?
The only other thing I can think they are are a different kind of Pod, but I dont think they are...

I think the greenish ball is the nucleus the the snail feeds on for the first few days, right?
Thanks,

that looks like a mother copepod. meaning a copepod with eggs.

If it is, then I have like 100 of them all over my glass. But these are smaller than the Pods running around ont he sand and rocks...

copepods are probably the smallest pod you will see. they are usually only visable on the glass. the common ones in the aquarium (Harpacticoid copepod) stay tiny, just 2-3 mm long. heres some info on them http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-10/rs/index.php
these are also harmless and free fish food :D
