cheato in Ca

Does anyone know if cheato is illegal to order into Ca. None of the LFS in my area have it and do not know if it is illegal to order it from another state.

it shouldn't be illegal. LFS's dont have it very often but most members here do

Thanks, I am planning on ordering some but wanted to know if I could get in trouble Ca has some very strict laws on a lot of things other states do not.

Shaggy try and order it from J&L they might have it in stock.If they don't there is a guy here in montreal who has a store online.He ships stuff no problem.The only thing is it might be costly since its shipped by plane.You might want to do a two day shipping to save some cash its algea it won't die that easy.

I wouldn't buy algae online. I throw away handfuls of it a week. I'm sure you live near someone that has a fuge and can spare some.

I was going to order it online since I was already going to order some snails Nassarius Vibex and cerith as well as some micro starfish so I was going to add on some cheato while I was at it. None of my LFS have these snails and starfish so I have to order them. Thank you for offering though.

If you've already got an order in, just order it -- or hold out for someone here to offer you some. We obviously don't have it here in Alaska, but about 5 years ago I asked here and a very nice guy mailed me a small amount in a baggie/papertowel in an envelope for no charge. It now is operating in over 10 tanks in this area... THANKS! If it weren't so cold here right now, I'd do the same, but right now it can't survive regular mail here.

shaggy...friendy advice...if you get nassarius...dont get those 1/4" ones...get the big Tongan Nassarius - about 1"

A few years ago I heard caulerpa was illegal in Ca, and I noticed some places stopped shipping it here. But it seems like most online vendors will ship it to Ca now. Chaeto I am sure is fine.

I was told it was illegal to "sell" calerpa in CA, but some LFS will
give it away.
Lately everyone has been going chaeto anyway because it doesn't overgrow in tank like calerpa.

grape calerpa is legal here in California but Caulerpa taxifolia which has large tall feathery blades cannot be imported into the United States.

I had one LFS here in SD offer to give me some grape just 2 days ago, but I've heard too many people say it can overgrow if you don't have fuge lights 24/7
Every LFS I go to here in SD has chaeto for about $5 for a handful
