I need ideas on how to build a dyi Articulating arm that has 2 or 3 pivit points one being vertical the rest being horizontal.

Im not really sure were to begin or even were to look for the parts.

any ideas would be helpful.

thats it, i was hoping a dyi could be made at a much cheaper cost, i believe that one is 155.00 on there site

That model would be a good place to start some designs. No I don't know of a specific DIY for that but all the importance of the mechanism is in the locking hinges joints. I would search the net for similar joints or hardware that will do the same thing.

Tubing, pipe and some way to lock the joints.

How good of a DIY'er are you, how much weight does it have to hold, and how far does it need to pivot and swing?

I think I've got a good idea or two for you, but I have to leave work and need some time to sketch them up. I'll try to get back to you tomorrow, if not it will be Friday.


BTW, I don't have a salt water tank (yet), but this forum is one of the best DIY places around. I've been doing a lot of looking at projects releating to my fresh water tank and my amphibian tank. Good stuff!
