Do you use a feeding stick? If not then by target feeding with a stick you might be able to avoid this.

A pic would be cool.
You could use a piece of rigid airline tubing to feed the eel first so he'll leave the puffer alone.

well i have feeding tongs which is even a bigger problem as they all try to rip the food outof the tings at the same time , this was getting to be too dangerous, especially when you have a trigger and puffer in there, i read once where as a green bird wrasse had half his beak broken of and had to be fed with a syrynge dropper liquidated food stuffs, imagine a huma trigger porcupine puffer green bird wrasse , panther grouper, hifin snapper all trying to get it at the same time was getting really hariy to say the least, i dont like to over feed these predators especially grouper lionfish and puffer for all the noted reasons maybe this is why its such a feeding frenzy in there, thansk for the repsonses will aprreciate all other helpful hints from all you more advanced aquariasts than me you guys since im a newbie, though i was smart went froma 29 gallon marine tank str8 to the 150 now want even bigger i skipped 55 75 90 120 135 gallons tanks lol

I feed live salt water shrimp from the bait store and drop in 12 of them on each side of the tank so that all can get some without fights. That is in my 8 foot 300.
