Digital Camera

I am looking into getting a digital camera and really dont know a whole lot about them. I know I want to get clear pictures even when zooming in. I also want to be able to get clear pictures even against a bright background like the sand (I guess variable shutter speeds?). I asked here because some people on here take some really clear and upclose pictures of their tanks. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have a Nikon Coolpix 4300. It shoots pretty good macro shots, and more importantly it is really easy to use. Do you want to spend a fortune or a couple hunderd? The Coolpix series is in th $150-300 range. If you want profession shoots you are probably looking at $1000+ when all is said and done.

Really I want good pictures for about 300 bucks. Does anyone have any pics they took with their camera. I would like to compare a few. Thanks for the help
