weeding!

I need to "weed" a little in my 75g. I would like to sell a nice piece of yellow leather fragged from my original that I purchased over two years ago. It is not mounted but can easily attach to a rock or crevice. I also have a nice piece of hammer coral that has at least 8 or more heads. I also have a gorgonion (non photosynthetic) brown that needs a home,and lots of unmounted pulsing xenia (the kind that branches). I do have three nice pieces that are mounted on rock too.
In my 12g nano I need to frag a few more pieces of the coral that I have never knew the name of. I bought it from Tony last year and it is some kind of leather that looks like a kenya but closes up and turns a flourescent green. I have fragged it twice so far and is doing well in my 30g seahorse tank and my girlfriends 24g nano. It will be unmounted but will frag for you if interested. I am still undecided on prices but am willing to negotiate. The xenia I will sell for $5 or less depending on how many stalks are together. No more than $5.

I meant what was the coloration of it. There are a few different color variants of the Euphyllia corals. Is it the one in this pic?

If so, I'll take a frag of it. Might be interested in a frag of the unknown "nepthea" too... I've got a bright green one already, but they're cool corals so maybe I'll put one in my 20.

I've still got a few more months before I'll be ready to frag anything in my tank, so I gotta do cash :)

Yep, thats the one. I also have a picture of the so called Nepthea in my gallery also but it has grown quite alot since I took that picture. It is a creamy beige when open and then it closes and turns a beautiful green.

Do you have a closer picture of it? From what I can see it's probably in the Nephtheidae family, but whether it's a Nephthea or a Capnella I can't tell. The way you describe it sounds just like a Capnella that I have (except the coloring of mine has changed, it no longer turns green when pulled in). IME, it's difficult to identify these class of corals to the genus level.

Yup, that worked...fyi, you can embed the image directly using the [ img ] tag.

I think that's a Capnella sp., though I can't really articulate why. Regardless, it's a great looking piece and I'll take a frag of it too :)

I had a capnella a long time ago that had a meltdown when I changed over to my vho's. It never closed up like that and turned green so I thought it was not a capnella.. This piece grows like crazy.

Todd, Your yellow branching leather is my mystery coral. I have never heard it called that. I have plenty of that. I still have xenia if you are interested but I am waiting on Matt to come over this weekend to pick up the hammer. If he is able to frag it better than me I might have a piece but acropora213 is also waiting to find out if I have a frag for him. I do not need chaeto as I only use macro in my seahorse tank and they are not fond of it. I have tons of gsp as well. Come over and get some xenia. If you have some nice mushrooms I'd like that.

Thanks to Matt I have 3 frags of the hammer. One with 4 heads, one with 6, and one with 7.
Amheck, Rob352, Daddyjax, aquatic hamster, acropora213, and tedmonds all asked. Tedmonds is coming over this morning for xenia and I not sure if he wants hammer or not. I will have two left if he does want one.
