oof not this one again ...

*sigh ... well it's a sort of area where you can allow for macro algae and pods to cultivate and by doing so filter your water through the export of harmful nutrients.

...oh yea welcome to RC too :P

I have one on my setup if you're interested :)

A refugium if set up with a DSB and macro algae will grow lots of pods. In addition they do a great job of nutrient export. if you use a reverse lighting schedule for your macros it will greatly help to reduce the lights out PH swing as well. Also they increase total system volume. hard to go wrong by setting one up.

Yes I do, Mine is set up in split fuge/sump, I built it myself and use the natural system, The water comes from the overflow and gets equally dispurssed, 1/2 to the sump system that has a skimmer in it and 1/2 to the fuge that has lR,LS, and cheato, 24/7 lite with a brite white and a acitic, then both are dumped into the return section that pumps back to the tank, this is my only filterization for the system ( approx 60 gal)
My reef is doing great.
I vote yes. It also gives a place to raise all those pescy little creatures the corals love to eat!
