Thx for the compliment on Undy! I have her only a month, the rest of the guys quite some time. Her 75GL tank is cycling as we speak.

Simple....try to mimic reef like conditions. 20GL water change weekly, tace elements twice a week, and maintaining a good Alk/Ca balance. These rocks are old as this stuff doesn't grow over night.

You can have an aggressive tank with tons of coralline algae....just as long as you dont have any of the big puffers. THey love it. I have a golden, stellatus and a panda that munch on any little bit of pink coralline they can find.

I would love to help you out syndrome, but ever since my 2 year old gotta hold of my digi it hasn't quite worked the same:( I'll dig around later and see if I can out a half decent photo. Is the Undy in a tank of her own? I see that the Hermit is still alive... I have my female Undy with only a Purple Spotted Lobster that she wont kill... I think she is just fattening the lobster for a real meal.

How big is the Undy? I know it is a female obvously. I would really like to add another fish with my Undy, just dont want to add the element needed to make a war happen in my tank.

jcopp I had her with the rest of the gang for about a month while her tank was being set-up. She was in my 40 QT, and decided to see how she was. No aggression whatsoever, not to say that down the road there wouldn't be any. I've got her in a 75GL which turned out very nice, I'm using the black seachem grey-coast substrate, and I painted the back of the tank black, and faded it into blue towards the bottom. The Niger who is getting close to 8" was very unaccepting of her short stay however; he cooled down after a couple days, but it was getting to the point of having to take her back out into the 40. While I didn't need to remove her and set-up her own tank I did for the fact of not putting the rest of the group in possible danger. The Niger IMO could live with her till the end as he's very dominant/aggressive. My Undulate is very out going, never hides, and is moreso active than my Hummu; so I think I got lucky in the behavior department. I could see skittish/lurky Undulates being far more aggressive, than mine with a somewhat community personality.

I have been looking at a couple of other Triggers with the hope of finding a larger one that the Undy could live with. I see people on here all the time that have two or three posts... bought a large tank and put an Undy in with a bunch of other fish and call it done. When I KNOW that they never posted again because the Undy killed them all.

I was thinking of putting a clear divider in my tank put the Undy on one and try another fish in the other side... Do you think that might work? Or better off just leaving her by herself?

Forgot to mention she's a little over 4 inches, and the hermit is a bad dude with no problems defending himself or hiding very well. I would think it wouldn't work for you as the only fish as of now is your Undy; she might not be so accepting of anything else.

Pork belly! I dropped some large fresh shrimp in the tank for everyone, and she snatched most of it before anyone else got a chance. She swam away into her lair and ate all of it. Shortly after she just bobbed around and hung out in her cave, due to over eating.

jcopp there are some who've had succsess with this for example Bob Ferner clearly states he kept them in a community for years. And not sure, but theres a guy on one of these fish sites with a male female pair in a 180GL that tolerate each other. I've got a couple damsels in with Undy, and I think she treats them as her pets, as she has no interest in them as of now. Eventually once she gets big I'll move her to the 100GL I have, and thats where she'll die of ol' age. I plan to keep this fish and along with the rest of mine till the end. It seems many people will bring home Undulates because they're tough,mean, not to mention nice looking, but soon relize the havoc they create and get rid of them. I made accomodations for her almost from the start!

So as I understand your Undy is in with other fish. If I were to introduce another fish to her, any suggestions on what kind? Size? Ect. Should I expect a couple of days of violence then thing might calm down? If I did get another fish would a trigger be the best way to go? Smaller than my Undy or larger? Sorry for all the questions.

I had three damsels in with her a blue damsel and a yellow damsel both were seemed to scare the Undy at first, much faster than her and bright colors I think.

jcopp she is now alone but was with a group for a while. She is alone just for future reference I didn't remove her for any aggression reasons. I like your video! I too will be making one down the road with the help of 00nothing, and his editing/movie skills. Not sure what size tank you have, but if you were to try to add a tankmate this is what I would try. Remove your Undy into a QT or if need be a temporary holding tank; for a period of two weeks. Re-arrange your rockwork in your main while shes gone. Enter your new addition, which will give them some time in the two week time frame to get comfortable. As far as tankmates thats a tough one. Just to list a few: Giant Hawkfish, any fair sized grouper to your liking, French or Queen Angel, Or Trigger bigger than Undy.Like I'd mentioned from my observation only, I would think if the tank was fairly large my Niger could coincide due to his aggressive,bullying,dominant nature. It would be important to give the new addition time to settle, say just for example you put a really aggressive 12" CT in the tank. I would almost guarantee your small Undy would be all over it like white on rice, with little retaliation from the CT. Eventhough the Clown could decimate the Undy from a pound for pound perspective. I've noticed with aggressive fish when going in a display they are moreso timid until they get comfortable and as days go by their attitude grows. As far as the hermit he's a Red-Starry and they get about soft ball sized. If they don't get any uneaten fish food in the tank you'd have to give him the odd portion. Just to keep him from going fish hunting in the night. I'll put a small piece of shrimp on a bamboo skewer and feed him that way; the only time I can do it is while the rest are busy eating.

Thank you very much for the information. This is my future plan which kinda goes along with the thoughts metioned by you.
Right now my Undy is like 3 1-2 inches total including all fins ect. She is in a 48 Gallon tank as of right now. I planned to get a 90 or a 120 in about 1 year. I have had the trigger for 2 1-2 years, in this same tank. When I got the new tank I would keep the Undy in her tank while I set up the new tank, introduce whatever fish I would like to try to the new tank wait and introduce the Undy last into the new tank.

Sounds good! At least if it doesn't work out you can always put her back in the 48, keep us updated. And as will I when I pick up a new digi, with lots of pics!
