Hi everyone!
I'm new here and was wondering if you could help me identify this thing growing in my tank. I haven't been able to find anything like it.

This pic is a close up. It's about the size of a quarter
Thanks!

Looks like a cup coral to me, if that is what it is, harmless. Feed it some brine shrimp.

It lays flat and when you starle it, it sucks back into the rock quick

I think it looks like an aiptaisia. A pest anemone that you do not want in your tank. :(

edit..... but yeah, i still think its some type of anemone
I've seen that, and it wasn't aiptasia. I can't say good or bad, but since aiptasia will not doom a tank overnight, I'd say let it ride while you consult all the 'intervetebrate salt' categories online.

The sparkle in the tentacles is usually indicative of a cup coral, it definitely doesn't look like any aptasia I have seen before. Google cup coral and look at the pics, the hithhikers usually are clear although they can be orange/ yellow. If you id it as such, I believe they are nonphotosynthetic and needs to be fed if you want to keep it. (related to sun corals)

I think it kinda cool looking. It's brown with green stripes and a white center, it also has one tenicle that always stands upright like it's supoosed to lure fish
Thanks for your input all
