Saw a nice mustard colored one online and would like to purchase it. Don't have much info as to how hard/easy it is to keep them, compared to acros and montis.

Please give me some info.

Thanks

Scroll could be alot of things. post a pic and we can help you out. More than likely, it's probably turbinaria

Yup, Turbinaria reniformis(sp?) Pretty easy to keep. Alot of the yellow ones are dyed though. IME, I would say as easy, or easier to keep than montis.

I really liked the mustard color. Is it ok to place that next to a monti, so that you have layers of monti and a layer of the scroll next to each other?

Thanks

I have two, both close to monti's.

Don't seem to bother each other although I had one monti "reach out and touch" the scroll and attach to it. Still kalking it to kill it!

I've found the Ruffled Ridge (scroll) to be hardy but not a fast grower in my tank.

It does appear that the healthier they are, the darker they get.

The one in the picture seems a little stressed as mine was like that when I first got it.

Now, the colony is a dark mustard with brighter yellow polyps and bright yellow edging on the colony.

indeed, dark=better for this coral. I had one as well. SLOW grower in my tank too.

There is a nice pinkish variety around as well.

This is one of my favorite corals and couldn't be easier to keep IMO. The polyps are huge, especially during a feed. Here is a pic of the purple variety (in the background).

Is turbinaria an SPS or LPS?

I have had this one a little over a year, doubled in size. Has always been this color (even lighter in person). Polyps are not usually out during the day, but are the same color anyway.

Strange - I re-attached this photo 3 times and all I see is a red X....Photobucket issue maybe?

I agree it one of the easier corals to keep. Here's mine ..it started as a frag from the mother colony which I sold because it just grew too large.

Mine is mostly yellow (pic shows more brown than it is) and is almost 3 years old. It started from a frag and doesn't grow all that fast, even though it gets pretty good light. I think more light = less brown. It has nothing to do with health IMO and doesn't necessarily mean it's dyed. The polyps on mine never come out during the day, but it's nice and hairy at night. :)

They are easy to keep as others have stated. I have always liked them. One of my favorites.
