I ordered a Retrofit kit, 48" 4 Lamp AS220 DIY 40-48224, from Hello Lights. They were very quick and friendly. I give them a positive rating. However, the AS220 Ballast is causing a huge amount of electrical interference on channels 4 and 5 of my TV. I have tried everything I can think of to eliminate it, but can't. I called HL and they said the AS220 was a little cheaper made and Cust Serv suggested I go with the ARO Model 4L ballast. One problem with that is they want me to ship back the AS220 first and then for an additional charge they will send me the better ARO ballast. I can't do that because they are the only lights I have on my tank. Maybe if I got the ARO first, I could later send back the AS220. The ARO is also a series ballast so if my bulb burnt out I would lose my lights until I got a new T12 VHO Bulb. Anyway, has anyone else experience this ballast or any ballast causing very bad (unwatchable) electrical interference and if so, how have you fixed it? (I would be willing to try the ARO if HL would send it first, but haven't go that accomplished yet.) I have tried "clean power strips," ferrite cores, etc.:confused:

What you are describing is rare but it does happen. The AS220 is a simpler design than the ARO 4L. Maybe that is what the customer service representative meant. It just has more capability. The 4L might be a better option however there is no guarantee the interference will stop. There are many variables involved.
As far as the replacement, the process you mentioned is our standard procedure. We either have to receive the AS220 ballast here and exchange it for you or we can charge for the replacement and send it out. Then when you return the AS220 we can credit that order.
Please give a call and we will do what it takes to get you going in the right direction.

Well I ordered ARO Model 4L ballast and sent back the AS220 ballast. The ARO took care of 98% of my TV interference. I am well pleased. I can't believe how easy it was to hook up the ARO. I sent back the AS220 and received credit. Thank you Hello Lights and I must say I am well pleased with your company and the customer service representatives I talked with on the phone.
