ok, at the local frag swap this weekend i picked up some frogspawn, a branching hammer, acan echinata, and a neon green favia. just wondering if it is ok to put the frogspawn next to the acan, or will the frogspawn cause problems? they are both real small right now, and i think they are far enough for a few months, but i dont want future problems, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Keep a distance of 6 to 8 inches between the frogspawn and other corals. They can send out extremely long sweeper tenctacles that may kill other corals they come into contact with, such as the Acanthastrea.

I personally think the echinata will be the winner in that fight. I only have one echinata now b/c all it they did was wipe out other corals.

Peace,

IME frogspawn or hammers don't send out sweeper tentacles. The Acan in this pic is downstream and it's only a ten gallon tank.

if hammer touch acan, acan will lose.

I lost over half of my prized (but still small) RandyO red and grey acan when it fell into my frogspawn. Not a happy day. It is recovering nicely, though.

The acans nuke most things, but the frogspawn definitely got the better of it. Paper/rock/scissors;).
