Coraline Algae Turning White

Hope someone out there can tell me whats going on here. Ive had my tank set up now for about 6 mos. I have had great coraline algae growth but in the last week or so it seems as if the coraline algae is starting to turn from purple to white. Any ideas or helpful suggestions to reverse this? what are you parameters, do you dose any calcium/alkalinity?

seems to me like its dieing off. The same thing usually happens with new rock, so your parameters may be out of it.

New lights or changed the bulbs? During water change, was the coralline exposed? Temperature changes?

I've had mine bleach for the above reasons, but it came back quickly. I don't think it actually died, just bleached temporarily.

mine is the same way, but its a new tank also. amonia and nitrite are 0, nitrate is 2-5 range. that is all I have tested for though

Temperature? If over 85, that can do it. And don't trust just one thermometer...

mine tank is between 78-79, according to a coralife digital temp in sump and a glass floaty one in tank.

Then it's not the temperature doing it. One cause eliminated. Alkalinity? Can you get your lfs to run that test for you?

Your calcium is low. The more coraline you have the more calcium you will have to add in order to keep up with growth.

Check your calcium levels and bring it up to normal.

My calcium levels are between 480 - 490. Temp is 79 degrees. Any other suggestions?

I do not have a calcium test kit yet, newly setup using instant ocean salt mix.
