cleaning up lots of scratches on my 450 acrylic

Hello all

i stopped in my LFs this weekend looking for a acrlyic scrach kit. it didn't look as if it would get all my scraches out. any of u guys have any information for large scale scrach removal? should this be done by hand or can i get a power sander. i don't think there are a lot of deep scratches but its hard to tell buy looking at it, but i have a few areas ther look white, maybe its just calcium int the grooves. i've been try to do a search, but i understand the the traffice is high on RC.

You can use the power sander but from experience I would recommend doing it by hand. You get a much better quality job IMO.

You can also go to www.etr-inc.com. I've used kits from both companies and found that everclear has a more specialized kit for aquarium applications. The instructions are very helpful and results are awesome. I've used it on several large tanks including fully stocked ones. The only problem is for deep tanks the process is tedious and slow. Trust me its worth the time.

I contacted them earlier today. they told me what i should get, he did mention that its a slow process, but worth the reward. it should be easyier since the is empty. members from the locat club already offered assistance. tanks again guys

I GOT IT AT A GREAT STEAL OF 1000 CDN

HOWEVER LOTS OF SERIOUS SCRATCHES

THE FORMULA IS AS SUCH........DRY SAND WITH 300+
WHEN SANDING, SAND IN ONE DIRECTION
THIS WILL LOOK LIKE HELL...DO NOT PANIC...CHANGE TO ANOTHER GRADE..500...SANDIN THE OPPSITE DIRECTION.

AT ABOUT 600 IT BECOMES WET SANDING
THEN 800
900
1000
I STOPPED AT 1200 GRIT ALL WET SANDING
MAKE SURE EVEN PRESSURE OR ELSE TANK WILL BE DISTORTED WHERE U OVERSAND

BEFORE YOU GET TO THE WET SANDING STAGE...SPEND A GREAT DEAL REMOVING SCRATCHES DRY SANDING
BY THE TIME U GET TO 1200 GRIT IT SHOULD BE LOOKING GOOD AGAIN.

YOUR ACRYLIC STORE SHOULD CARRY A PRODUCT CALLED NOVUS
1 ,2 AND 3

START WITH 3 THEN 2 THEN 1 IS FINAL POPLISHING

ALWAYS SPRAYING WITH WATER AS U POLISH..USING A G MOP POLISHING PAD FROM UR AUTOMOTIVE STORE
