I saw another unit with the clear housings and a filmtec membrane. There was a thread here about it a few months ago.
My search function doesnt work, so I cant find it, but it looked great. 6 stage under $100.
I would avoid the white housings, and apparently the membranes make a difference.

hmmm, i have some clear ones from my old unit....and i could probably get a new membrane and it would STILL be fairly cheap...so, not a waste of money? not sacrificing too much "quality" for price?

Hey Brad -
I was looking at the same setups as well- I've heard a few people have gotten them and it's all fine. Personally, Iw ould maximize the investment and get the one with the storage tank as well- if you have the room for it - $99 with or without. And I think you have to figure at that price- even if the filters were all garbage (which I dont think they are)- they are replaceable and you still come out with the hardware and youre still saving money...

I bought the same one from the same person about 5 months ago. I had a problem with the RO membrain at first. My TDS meter was reading 45 from tap and 38 after the unit. He mailed me a new one free and now it is at 0. I like the unit a lot. They responded quick with any e-mails and were more than willing to help out. They are in california.

I got my unit from Ebay, a six stage 100G/Day and it is awsome I payed like $65 over 2 years ago. Changed the filters once, about to do it again. I get the filters from Wal-Mart really cheap. The seller's name is something like SoulKnight or something of the sort, anyway I'm very happy with it and you can't beat the price.
