Is there a special kind of reflector that is required for HQI or would a polished piece of aluminum be fine? If someone special is required where can I buy one at?

I would invest in the ROIII reflector or I think that PGS is making the lumenarch reflector for DE HQI bulbs but it is a special order.

could i just get a sheet of aluminum and polish it? I have a brake that I can bend it in.

sure you could do that but you are not going to get an efficient reflector. you could just paint your canopy white if you wanted to go the cheap route. it works if that is what you are looking to do.
