it looks like i may be taking some out then.........

Shove as much of it as you can in the sump area. It will give you all the filtration as well as more room.

Trottie, if you believe what Anthony Calfo and other experts say, I would not even attempt a Powder Blue in your tank unless it's VERY small and VERY temporary. They need a huge tank in order to thrive.

what do you say about the naso in the 75!? i dont want one but.....

what tang would be good? blue hippo?

kole tang, scopas tang or a yellow, maybe a small purple or sailfin, naso grows fast & needs lots of room, i would stay away from the powder blue & hippo, very easily freaked out & ick up.

I love my kole tang. Ton of personality. I saw that movie today and the part with the yellow and the yellow eyed kole tangs cleaning the turtle was awesome.

can someone give me a list of tangs i can keep? this will be basically the only fish in the tank , besides blennis, six line wrasse, and 2 clowns

i am kinda confused... some people say powder blue, others blue hippo, others say nuthing except tomani/yello/kole, and then i see a naso (which grows over 1 ft) in a 75 gallon tank.
--someone help me out a little

Depends on how long you are referring to. Probably on a permenant basis, kole or tomini(sp?), maybe a yellow depends on whose reference you read. Short term (2-3 years give or take) you might get by with a very small tang depending on growth rate. At your age I'd go with one you can keep long term. You have no idea how busy you're going to get in college.

i am lookiong for something that will live in this tank for abnout 6 -7 years.

so is that naso not perminant?

Just go to liveaquaria for a good estimate of # of gallons they need.

trottman

it says 70 for blue hippo and 125 for naso......

I know that's wrong for a hippo.

There's other forums here you can go research this kind of stuff. Here's a thread from the reef fish forum regarding tangs and tank sizes:

so, would a whitecheek tang bee good?

the thread mentioned above says 75 gallons, and liveaquaria says 70 gallons.

well, i have changed my mind. i am now going to do an anthias tank! 5 dispar anthias (4 inch max) and one yellow/ or kole tang.

sound good?

on liveaquaria.com what does this phrase mean

"Due to the complex social structure of Anthias, it is advisable to keep one specimen per tank. "

capncapo

That means that they are likely to kill eachother.

o... i am just dumb and read it wrong :D

i am debating between dispar and lyretail anthias (only because dispar is sometimes hard to get to eat)
