It sounded like a good idea at the time.

Have a look at my thread and see for your self.

After some quick searching I see that it may not be as overkill as I thought.

I have VHO, T5, and MH.

its not like you have 2x400 mh on it... although all those VHO watts are mostly going to energy bills and not light power:)

Cprowler,

I have 1090W on my 120g:

2 - 250W 10K MH
1 - 150W 20K MH
2 - URI 110W Actinic White VHO's
2 - URI 110W Super Actinic Blue VHO's

My corals seems very happy, I like the coloring, and I like to think that I have most of the spectrum covered.

horkn - I may add the second 400.:D I was thinking of lowering the VHO's but I like that there out of the way and I still see a color difference but may end up putting them closer.

cmhollis - How close to the water are yours?

LOL wow and to think the 2 175MH I planned to put over my 120g was going to be alot. But its going to be an all softie tank though.

Opiy,

Most people recommend 250's for a 24" tall tank. I would think you should be all set though if you don't plan to keep any SPS or clams.

Good luck,

Mike

I'm setting up a 150g high (30" deep), and am planning on 2 400w HQI halides and 4x54w T5s. Total of 1016 watts.

Want to grow sps and clams, and after a lot of reading and talking with hobbists, this is the plan.

that would work quite well, although 2x250 DE would work well also with a good set of reflectors.

on my 90g, i am planning 1 400w de, and 4x54t5ho...
