Hi,
I am trying to decide which skimmer to go with. My tank is only a 37 gallon with a 5.5 gallon sump. Medium stocked with NO SPS, mostly mixed, dominated with LPS. Do the 9/ com series skimmers do a good job of pulling out algea producing compounds?
I can fit a 9005,9010 or a 9015. Would 9010 or 9015 be too much for me. I would like to go with a nano size but I think it may be a little to small.
Would a 9005 with a sump kit work good for me? I would rather get a skimmer a little too big than too small.
Thanks for any advise..........Herbie

The 9005 with a sump kit is a bad deal in my opinion. You get the sump kit with the 9010 and it has a stronger pump, the cost is about the same.

Thats what I was thinking also. Its almost the same price for a 9010 or a 9005 with the sump kit. Might as well get the 9010 and have a better performing unit for the same price. I guess I will prob. be ordering the 9010 shortly!
Thanks for your input Roger.

Putting cost aside for the moment.........is the 9005 with the sump kit still a good skimmer for a small tank........under 50 gallons ???
Would it perform close to the 9010? Should be a little quieter at least ..........right ??? Is anyone running a 9005 in a sump and having good output with it ??? Lets say I could only fit the 9005, would it still be worth it ???
Thanks..............Herbie

It would work fine, the noise would be the same really, maybe a couple decibels difference. The performance is less for sure, but definitely enough.
