I know that no reef safe angel is 100 percent reef safe. I will have all sps in my tank. The angels i am looking at are....

Chrysurus angel-African
Imperator

any input is aprecaited.... the tank is 125 gallons.

Thanks Jeff

i believe regals are sps safe, and any genicanthus species will be.

Of those two Angels which should i go for?
If i get the Chyrysurus angel should i get a Juvi or a small adult?

Regals are just like any other angel. Maybe less likely, but they can and might still nip

IME, Regals are safe with SPS and most LPS. But they do then to eat zoas.

Ive got three regals in my 125 and they have been perfect tenants. My tank is only sps though. One of them wont touch any corals but the other two love to snack on zoos

Is'nt that small for 3 of them? And how the heck were you lucky enough to find 3 of them that are doing good. Most people have a hard time keeping 1 of these guys. Please tell me more.

I dont think its too small for them. They seem happy, I've had them all for over a year now. I get them from a LFS in my area that holds them for me and gets them to eat before i take them home. Apparently he has a great supplier who gets very healthy regals.

I dont have pics, i REALLY need to get a camera!! Ill see if i can get a friend to come by and take some pics this weekend. They eat pretty much whatever goes in the tank, but their favorites are nori and a homemade variation of european shrimp mix i make.

Oh and the person that i get them from does ship, just fyi

If you going to put any large angels in 125 Gallon tank especially a Emperor is going to be very hard on the fish as they get BIG fast . I got my Emperor as a JUV over two years a go it was 2 1/2" back then now is almost ten inches long .
It is almost reef safe i said SPS safe it will eat any meaty LPS corals and green Zoo.
Here is some before and after pictures of the Emperor in my 200G reef tank..

zoom,
In the second picture you provided there is a red coral that looks like scolymia. Have you had any problems with the emp and that coral?

there are reef safe angels. regals need to be the REd Sea ones.

LAmark angel
swallowtail angel
Watanabei angel

Not as bright but good fish.

I am going to get a Regal but purposely dont have clams or LPS.

Okay, either way it looks like a fleshy coral. Just wondering if a fleshier coral such as that will gete chowed or is it more of the open brain type corals.

Yes that is blastomusa I have two of them no problems with them at all never even look at them, but the Emperor likes the open brains for lunch.:D

Beautiful pix Steve!!

I really like Watanabei & Bellus pairs. They are beautiful and very safe. I think the Japanese Swallowtail is also Genicanthus. Just stay away from Lamarck in that family, they're not too sexy anyway.
