Have a 30g. Obvious, FOWLR but maybe a coral or 2 for color.
Designing a sump/fuge.

3/8 Acrylic

24"L x 15"H x 9"W

Works out to roughly 14g or so. Going to run a Skimmer. I was thinking of spliting into the following:

7"L (skimmer) x 10" Fuge x 7" Return. Thoughts????

I am working on an AutoCAD rendering, as soon as I get it right I will post.

ALSO, I need a skimmer no taller than 20" good enough for my neccessary flow. Any ideas??? I cant seem to find something that fits my needs. Thanks for your input....

Sounds good, pretty much what I did for a sump on my 29 gallon reef. Except I just bought a 15 gallon glass tank, and had baffles cut for $1.99 each at my local True Value hardware store.

When I first set it up:

If you went with the 15 gallon tank, you'd need to make sure it would fit in whatever stand you have. Or you could go with a 20 gallon long tank, 30x12x12.

you can save money by going with 1/4" material.

I thought about the glass tank until I measured my stand. Unfortunatly nothing will fit unless I go small. So I will have to build one to fit.

BigFalcon: True, but I think it would look really nice and sturdy if I use 3/8. Even though it will be hidden I still want it to be overly sturdy and look nice as well.

Should I go with 2 sets of bubble baffles or is one sufficient??

I do however like Marcs, bubble tower concept, wonder if I could do a skimmer as well with a the bubble tower???Hmmmmmm.....

2020: Couple of questions.....

What is your flow rate?
What pump do you use??
Is you tank drilled and how many returns do you use??

Here's some that I have done and there is ZERO bowing in these and they are holding about twice as much as you are wanting to put in them. If you got with a Eurobrace/top flange on them you should be good to go.

The tank isn't drilled, I'm using a Hurricane QuietFlo 600 overflow. The return pump is a Mag5, with one return outlet in the back center. I've got a powerhead (120gph, I think) directed along the back bottom of the tank behind the rock, and 2 more powerheads on the sides, one is a 290 gph Maxijet 1200, and the other is a Maxijet 600 (I think). Seems to be working well for my 29 gallon:
